In the beginning of July it was quite hot, the air temperature warmed up to 33-39 °C. However, due to the arrival of active cold atmospheric fronts from the northwest, there was a cold snap, which covered the entire territory of the country until the end of the ten-day period. In general, the average air temperature was in the northern, eastern, Poltava and Dnipropetrovsk regions, while in the rest of the country it was 1.0-2.3 °С higher than normal and amounted to 17.7-23.1 °С. The maximum air temperature in the beginning of the ten-day period increased to 35-39 °С, and to 33-34 °С in the Zakarpatska, Ivano-Frankivsk, Lviv, Khmelnytsky, Cherkassy, Poltava and Sumy regions.
Precipitation of varying intensity, sometimes in the form of showers with squalls, thunderstorms, hail was observed for 2-6 days. Their average regional number in the eastern and Zaporizhzhya regions was close to the ten-day norm, and in the Kherson, Dnipropetrovsk and Transcarpathian regions – 131–243% of the ten-day norm (17-51 mm). In the Volyn, Lviv, Ivano-Frankivsk, Kirovograd, Odessa and Mykolayiv regions the amount of precipitation was 58-79% of the ten-day norm (17-30 mm). In the rest of the country, precipitation ranged from 9 to 46% of the norm. In some areas of the Odessa and Cherkasy regions there was no precipitation at all.
Relative air humidity averaged 54-77%. Throughout the country, with the exception of the Zhytomyr and Khmelnytsky regions, within 1-7 days during the daytime there was a decrease in relative humidity of air to 30% and below.
The grain of winter crops has reached waxy or full ripeness. Harvest began throughout the territory of Ukraine except the western regions.
The seeds were ripe in winter rapeseed and spring barley, they were harvested throughout the country. Milky and waxy ripeness of grain was observed in spring wheat. The condition of the crops is good. Milky, waxy and full ripeness of grain was noted in oats, grain formation was still going on in some places. The formation of baskets continued in sunflower during the ten-day period. The condition of the plants is predominantly good, but in some areas of the southern regions a daytime wilting of the plants was observed through dry conditions.
