It was very warm in early June in Ukraine and in some places hot weather prevailed.
The average regional ten-day period air temperature was 3-4.8 °C higher than normal and constituted 19.0–23.7 °C. The maximum air temperature in the southern, eastern, Dnipropetrovsk and Kyiv regions rose to 33-34 °C. In most regions it exceeded 30 °C (except Rivne, Khmelnitsky, Ternopil, Ivano-Frankivsk and Chernivtsi) for 1-5 days, and in the Luhansk, Zaporizhzhya, Donetsk and Kherson regions for 6-9 days. The minimum air temperature during cool nights decreased to 8-12 °С, in the southern, Kirovograd, Poltava, Cherkasy and Vinnitsa regions – up to 13-15 °С.
Precipitation of varying intensity (from mild and moderate to heavy rains), in parts with squalls, thunderstorms and hail was observed for 1-7 days.
The moisture supply of the tilth top soil under winter rape in some areas of the southern regions was insufficient – less than 10 mm of productive moisture, in some places in the Kherson region the soil was dry altogether. In the remaining areas, the reserves of productive moisture were satisfactory and excessive and ranged from 17 to 56 mm.
The moisture content of a meter-thick layer of soil under the early spring crops in the western regions was excessive for the period of grain formation — 121-160 mm; in most areas of the southern and individual areas of the Dnipropetrovsk and Sumy regions, the reserves of productive moisture were 52-72 mm, in some places in the Mykolayiv, Kherson, Dnipropetrovsk and Sumy regions it did not exceed 5-48 mm.
The reserves of productive moisture of the tilth top soil under corn in most of the planted areas were at the level of sufficient, optimal (21-40 mm and more) and satisfactory (11-20 mm).

Winter crop. In winter wheat and rye in most areas of the northwestern half of the country, an ear flowering was noted, and in the southeastern half of the country grain of winter wheat and winter barley grain, in the northwestern regions grain of winter rye reached milky ripeness. Waxy ripeness of winter wheat grain was observed on separate areas of the southern and eastern regions.
The condition of winter crops is good and satisfactory. In some areas of the eastern, southern and northern regions where there was no precipitation for a long time, the ear of winter wheat was yellowed through dry conditions. In some places in the southern, eastern and central regions due to rainstorms and overwetting lodging was observed, in some places in the central and eastern regions – damage by pests and diseases. On the crops of winter rape the formation of pods continued, and ripening was noted in certain areas of the southern regions. The condition of the crops was mostly good. In some areas of the southern regions there was damage to plants by agricultural pests. Almost all over the country, there was damage to plants by agricultural pests and diseases, the condition of crops worsened due to heavy rains, hail and gusts of strong wind, in some areas in the Kherson region due to drought and dry winds.
