Cool weather was observed in Ukraine in the first ten days of June. On most days, the average daily air temperatures were below normal by 1-8 ° C.
Precipitation was observed throughout the entire territory: in the northwestern half of the country – insignificant and small, in the southeastern half – significant and strong, when in some areas a month and a half of precipitation fell per day. Thunderstorms, sometimes hail and squalls were observed throughout the territory.
The average regional ten-day air temperature in the western regions (with the exception of the Chernivtsi region) turned out to be close to the norm, in the rest of the territory – by 1.2-2.9 °С, in the Mykolayiv, Dnipropetrovsk, Kharkiv and Luhansk regions – by 3.2-3.6 °С below it and ranged from 15.2 °С in the east to 17.5 °С in the west.
The maximum air temperature on the warmest days increased to 25-30 °С.
The minimum air temperature on cool nights dropped to 2-7 °С, in the southern, eastern, Dnipropetrovsk, Kirovohrad, Cherkasy and Chernivtsi regions – to 8-11 °С. Precipitation of varying intensity (from weak and moderate to heavy showers), sometimes with squalls, thunderstorms, hail were observed throughout the country for 1-8 days.
In the Sumy, Kirovohrad and Mykolayiv regions the average amount of precipitation over ten days was 131-200% of the ten-day norm (21-36 mm). In the Odesa, Kherson, Poltava, Kharkiv and Luhansk regions, it was 212-388% of the norm (36-62 mm). The highest amount of precipitation was noted in the Dnipropetrovsk, Donetsk and Zaporizhzhya regions – 553-706% of the ten-day rate (83-113 mm). In the Cherkasy and Chernivtsi regions, the ten-day rainfall was close to the norm – 16-24 mm. In the rest of the country, the amount of precipitation on average did not exceed 35-72% of the norm or 8-18 mm. The smallest amount of precipitation over a decade was noted in Transcarpathia and Ivano-Frankivsk region – 14-24% of the ten-day norm (5-6 mm).
During the ten-day period in most of the country agrometeorological conditions for the development and formation of the crop were satisfactory, in areas with heavy rainfall and hail, they were not very favorable.
In the second half of the ten-day period, in many areas of the central, eastern and southern regions, strong gusts of wind with downpours and large hail were recorded, which led to lodging, washing away of crops, damage to garden and fruit crops. In some areas of the central regions, local flooding, stagnation of water and siltation of agricultural crops were observed.
The moisture supply of crops in most of the areas remained at sufficient and optimal levels, in some places it was excessive.
The phase development of all agricultural crops took place around and somewhat later than the average long-term periods.
