In the first ten days of November, predominantly warm weather was observed in Ukraine, on some days the maximum temperature increased to the values typical for early October. On clear nights, slight frosts were noted. In the last days of the ten-period day, there was an intense sharp cooling due to the intrusion into the territory of Ukraine of cold air masses from the north of Europe.
Precipitation of different amounts and intensity was observed within 1-6 days throughout the country. Their average regional number in the Volyn, Lviv, Ternopil, Rivne, Zhytomyr and Vinnytsya regions ranged from 31 to 46% of the ten-day norm (4-6 mm). The Khmelnytsky, Ivano-Frankivsk, Chernivtsi and Chernihiv regions fell from 55 to 70% of the ten-day norm of the precipitation norms (6-9 mm). Precipitation close to the norm was observed in the Transcarpathian, Kyiv, Cherkasy, Poltava, Sumy, Kharkiv and Odesa regions – from 9 to 24 mm. In the rest of the country, the average regional amount of precipitation ranged from 158 to 233% of the ten-day norm (from 17 to 23 mm) (Fig. 2). The daily maximum precipitation in some areas of the Luhansk, Donetsk, Zaporizhzhya and Kherson regions reached 12-16 mm.
In the first ten days of November, on the whole, satisfactory conditions were formed for the rooting and initial development of winter crops. In the southern, central and eastern regions, where effective rainfall took place in the middle of the ten-period day, soil moisture conditions were better than before, which, combined with warm weather, contributed to the acceleration of the growth and development of winter crops.
