In the second ten-day period of March, warm, normal weather prevailed in Ukraine.
The average regional ten-day air temperature in most of the country turned out to be 1.0-2.1 °C above the norm, in the eastern and Transcarpathian regions – close to the norm and ranged from minus 1.0 °C (Luhansk region) to plus 3,7 °С (Kherson region). The minimum air temperature decreased in the western, Zhytomyr, Vinnytsya, Kirovohrad and Odesa regions to minus 4-9 °С, and in the eastern regions – to minus 16-21 °С, in the rest of the country – to minus 10-15 °С. Maximum temperature air on the warmest days in the northern, Rivne, Volyn and Luhansk regions reached 6-11 °С, in the rest of the territory – 12-17 °С.
Precipitation of varying amounts and intensity was noted throughout the country for 3-8 days in the form of rain, snow and sleet. In most of the country’s territory, the average regional ten-day rate ranged from 130 to 275% (from 13 to 30 mm), in the Rivne, Khmelnytsky and Ivano-Frankivsk regions – 340-388% of the ten-day norm (31-46 mm). In the Sumy, Kharkiv, Donetsk and Mykolayiv regions the amount of 3 precipitation per ten-day period was close to the norm (9-12 mm), in the Luhansk region – less than the norm – 7 mm.
Agrometeorological conditions for the end of wintering of wintering crops in Ukraine were satisfactory. As of March 20, winter crops (wheat, barley, rye) in most of the territory were still in a state of winter dormancy. In the Mykolayiv, Kherson, Dnipropetrovsk, Donetsk, Zaporozhzhya, Kirovohrad, Cherkasy and the south of Odesa regions, where the vegetation of winter crops was noted, the crops were in tillering phases and 3rd leaf. The state of the crops was assessed as mostly good and satisfactory. In winter rapeseed in the Kirovohrad, Dnipropetrovsk and Kherson regions, a renewal of vegetation was noted in the phase of leaf rosette formation. The crop condition is mostly good.
