Warm weather with a deficit of precipitation was observed in the third ten-day period of February. On warm days, the average daily temperatures exceeded the norm by 7-13 °C, and the maximum air temperature increased to 10-16 °C, in the southern regions of the Odesa region – to 17-20 °C. With the passage of the atmospheric front in the middle of the ten-day period in the eastern and northeastern regions, there was a decrease in the minimum air temperature to minus 15-20 °С.
The average regional ten-day air temperature in the eastern, Dnipropetrovsk, Zaporozhzhya, Kherson and Transcarpathian regions turned out to be 2.0-4.0 °С, in the rest of the country – 4.7-7.1 °С higher than the norm and ranged from minus 3,2 °C (Luhansk region) to plus 4.0 °C (Odesa region). The minimum air temperature in the Lviv, Ivano-Frankivsk, Ternopil, Chernigiv, Sumy, Poltava, Dnipropetrovsk and Zaporizhzhya regions decreased to minus 11-15 °С, in the eastern regions – to minus 16-20 °С, in the rest of the territory – to minus 5 -10 °C.
Slight precipitation was noted within 1-3 days in the form of rain, drizzle, snow and sleet.
As of February 28, there was no snow in most of the country.
In many areas of the Mykolayiv, Kherson, in some areas of the Dnipropetrovsk and Transcarpathian regions, where in the last days of the ten-day period there was a renewal of growth processes, winter crops were in the phases of the third leaf, the formation of nodal roots and tillering, in the rest of the country winter crops were still in a state of winter dormancy.
